Plant Biology > Water Relations > Topic 2: Whole Plant Water Relations

(1 of 2)

All plants must move water from the soil to all of its tissues. From grasses 2 inches tall to redwoods 360 feet tall, plants exploit the physical properties of water. The water potential equation can be used to understand how water flows through plants without a pumping organ, like a heart.

What you'll learn in this topic

  • The route water travels as it moves from the soil, through a plant, to the atmosphere;
  • The forces that drive this movement;

Your task is to make water flow through a plant by using your knowledge of the water potential equation.
