The Pool Metaphor

In all three games of pool, you saw how the sequence of events depended on the position of each ball.

Biological signal transduction systems are much more complex, where the events are governed not only by position, but also size, concentration and many other parameters.

Keep the pool metaphor in mind as we start to look at biological signal transduction systems.
